Starting Points

Sportmax

Colour Inspiration

Commercial Layout

Flroal Artwork Gouache
The next collection I'll be working on will be inspired by the Sportmax collection of floral block prints. The colour they use is great and will mix very well with the pastel shades of the season. I've been looking at a few commercial prints that use negative space and block colour with the florals too. I had a few hours spare this week so started on some floral artwork that I will use for one of the prints. It will be a really enjoyable collection to do once my Paisley work is done!

Morning all,
Here are a few images to show some of my linear work. These have been sought after as they are very easily transferable to any scale and product.

Florals

A few examples of my floral designs, let me know what you think.

Get Crafty

So I thought I would share a few images of some of the items I create from my textiles. I hate to see any fabric going to waste so I thought that a great way to get the best use out of them would be to make accessories. Currently I sell on Folksy ( http://folksy.com/shops/FrancescaLittlejohnsDesigns) and at a shop, Barley Sugar ( www.barley-sugar.co.uk). I make toiletries bags, purses and hair accessories. I'm hoping to go on to make silk scarves and couture cushions to sell also. Everything is hand made and the fabrics are a mix of silks and synthetics. The items are all well priced and would make lovely little presents for any age. Why not give something different and put some chocolate Easter eggs in one of the coin purses for a present?

So here is a little peek at one of my next designs. Inspired by the paisley craze but with an added geometric twist.Would look gorgeous on a silk maxi skirt!

Beta Fashion

Beta Fashion is a fantastic website where artists, students, professionals and graduates can all come together and enter their work for free on the website. Each month there is a new competition published with a different theme and different prize. I entered this design in last month as part of the Power Pastels competition. Unfortunately I didn't win but it was my first entry and there is a lot of marketing and promotion work to do once you have entered your design. I've had some lovely feedback so keep an eye out for a post on here for the Paisley competition which is happening this month!

Eye Dazzler is a printed textiles studio in New York. Their work is brilliantly colourful and intricate. Mismatching prints have been in the trends for a while now and Eye Dazzler really know how to do it and do it well. The use of space/negative space and colour are important in these designs.
